The colour difference is probably due to the wax being removed in that area. You can buy a small pot of wax to re-proof it yourself, or you can send it away to Barbour for a professional re-wax. Barbour waxed jackets should ideally be re-waxed every months, depending on how much you wear it. You can either re-wax the garment yourself or send it directly to Barbour.
My Barbour is still in good condition although it has faded alot in colour, appearing more grey than black now. Will re-waxing it bring back the colour or just make it waterproof again? I have rewaxed my Ashby jacket using the Wax Thornproof dressing and it seems to have done the job however as the Ashby is made using sylkoil cotton was it correct to use the wax thornproof dressing or is there something different I should have used. I have a barbour international fibre down padded belted parka jacket and ever since ive taken delivery of it struggled to stop the inner fibre bobbling on the surface through wear. Under the airpits is especially tricky to keep bobbly free, so i have to carry a clothes brush in my pocket. Not ideal! Is the coat faulty? Or is there a tip to stop the fibre from being pulled out from the inside through friction? It certainly doesn't sound ideal!

My dog got sprayed by a skunk in his Barbour jacket. I typically through in the was with some baking soap and peroxide and some detergent to get it clean. But that is not recommended. Thanks Briannie Best thing to do is to try to scrub it with clean cool water. Use non-biological washing powder or soap. Tumble dry your jacket at a low heat setting and take it out of the machine as soon as it has stopped. Sponge your garment down with clean cold water, both inside and out. Never use soaps or detergents, wash it in a machine or get it dry cleaned, as this could cause irreparable damage.
Additionally, any future reproofing would result in the wax being absorbed by the cotton, which would soil the inside lining of the jacket and possibly soil clothes worn underneath it. Reproof your wax jacket at least once per year to keep it in good condition. Buy a tin of Barbour Wax Thornproof Dressing from an approved Barbour stockist and read the instructions before you begin.
