Undergraduate how many courses

Qualifications require a certain number of credits, broken down into smaller units. At Unisa, undergraduate modules are usually 12 credits. Each module is pegged according to a specific NQF level.

These levels follow on from one another. When choosing a module, you must first have passed the module at the lower level. The extended programmes of study are offered to South African applicants who show the potential to succeed with additional academic support. Applicants are considered on the basis of their performance in the National Benchmark tests, their faculty points score, and on their educational background.

These programmes are placement programmes, meaning that you apply to the university for the mainstream equivalent degree, and if you are eligible for admissionto the extended program, you will be offered a place in it. Students registered for the extended BA or BSocSci programmes of study receive additional academic support through two introductory Humanities courses in their first year.

They also receive additional tutorial support through courses which augment their semester subject courses in both their first and second year of study. As additional academic support is not available in Economics, Law or majors offered by the Faculty of Science with the exception of Environmental and Geographical Science , students registered for the extended programmes of study will not be able to pursue majors in these subjects.

In addition, students initially admitted into the 3-year degree who fail 3 or more courses in their first semester are advised by the Faculty to join the 4-year degree in the second semester. For more information on the curriculum of the extended degree programmes, please see the Humanities Undergraduate Handbook.

General Degrees which offer specialised curricula in particular subject areas or disciplines may have additional admission requirements.

Applicants will not be admitted into the Film and Media Production specialisation in their first year. Final selection for this programme is made by a panel and only occurs in the second semester of the second year. Entry is competitive and applicants will be judged on the basis of their academic records and portfolios.

Candidates may also be interviewed. For more information on the curriculum of the Film and Media Production specialisation, please see the Humanities Undergraduate Handbook. Unisa's undergraduate qualifications are offered at different NQF levels. You can apply for admission to two qualifications, so you may want to apply for a lower-level qualification in addition to your qualification of choice.

If you want to apply for admission to a Bachelor of Commerce BCom degree, for example, you may also want to apply for a higher certificate in the College of Economic and Management Sciences to ensure that you meet all the relevant admission requirements. As you progress with your application, you will get a better understanding of the qualification s for which you qualify for admission.
