Comment by seahen On my server, this is the only white crafting material that reliably sells for more than 20 gold each -- including volatiles. The best place to farm this is probably in the Darkwood in Tol Barad Peninsula, near one of the bridges. Not only do you have Darkwood Lurker and Darkwood Broodmother , which people will kill for the daily quests, but you'll also sometimes find Shipwreck Debris nodes to fish for Sealed Crate.
Comment by I found that the best place to farm heavy savage leather is in Tol Barad in the middle killing Darkwood Broodmother, Darkwood Lurker, and the Baradin Fox. Bring a tank with you to help gather them all up. I did this and was able to get 53 heavy savage leather in under an hour.
I decided to search for places with a high density of mobs that I can skin and drop Savage Leather. I traveled around Azeroth, and after a while, I made a list of places. Learn Catacylsm Skinning from any trainer in old major cities Orgrimmar, Stormwind before you start farming. You can skin these mobs without Catacylsm Skinning, but you will get a lot fewer leathers.
Before you go anywhere, clear your bags first. This means you will gather a lot of junk stuff filling your bags. Firelands is the best place to farm Savage Leather, but it's a level 35 raid instance, so you will need a level 40 or higher character to farm there.
If you don't have a high-level character, scroll down to the bottom of the guide to find alternative farming places. The entrance to Firelands is located at Mount Hyjal.
Go inside, then kill every scorpion, turtle, and core hound on the marked area, but do it in two pulls , else you won't be able to skin them fast enough, and the corpses will start despawning.
After you cleared the instance, run out, then you have to reset it by right-clicking over your own portrait, and then click the "Reset Instance" button.
